Can a child still contract Hib bacteria even though he was vaccinated?

I just came from the pediatricians office and the Dr. thinks my son has the Hib influenza. He has a double ear and eye infection along with sinus issues. He was vaccinated as a baby for Hib. I am SUPER nervous because this causes meningitis.
