Why did my pediatrician look down there?

I am a girl .Yesterday I went for my check up and she lifted my underwear and peaked. Why do they do this if i have already started my period? I am a 15 and I shave down there. I don't think there's anything to see and she didn't look all the way so she couldn't be looking for hings like stds or something else.
